In April the Razorbacks saw their celebrated coach fired because
of an improper relationship with a 25-year-old woman (and because of his
efforts to cover that relationship up). Arkansas will now rely on
John L. Smith—former head coach of Michigan State and Louisville as well as Razorback assistant to lead them through the ever-brutal SEC West.
This team is loaded with talent. From quarterback Tyler Wilson to tailbacks Dennis Johnson and the return of the explosive Kile Davis, powerful offensive guard Alvin Bailey to linebacker Alonzo Highsmith, the Hogs are unquestionably one of the most athletic teams in the South. With losing their head man coupled with the incredible power of the SEC west, could Arkansas see their most talented team ever underachieve?

Sure Fire Wins:
Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tulsa
The two most trying games of the bunch are on the road at A&M and at Auburn. While the Aggie offense is expected to have one of the most exciting passing games in the country, they aren't defensively sound enough to win a shootout with Arkansas . Auburn on the road could be a tough test, yet their are still several questions about how effective the Tiger offense can be after last seasons disappointing output.
Sure Fire Losses:
None
Toss ups:
Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi State, LSU
Bama and LSU are both at home giving Arkansas the break they need if they are going to find a way to win the west. The road game at South Carolina will be extremely difficult with the Gamecocks fielding one of the nations best defenses to go with a consistently balanced offensive attack. The trip to Starksville could be the trap as the Miss State is one of the most undervalued teams in the conference who are strong enough across the board to beat anyone in the league, especially with the recent addition of the air attack we saw in the spring to compliment the power running game Dan Mullen loves.
Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: Jacksonville State, ULM, Alabama, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tulsa, Miss State
Losses: LSU, South Carolina
